Overview

We are seeking a qualified Scheduler to augment flying squadrons in the areas of operational flight scheduling and training flight scheduling. Position will support units of the 432d Wing located at Creech AFB, NV and Whiteman AFB, MO. The 432 WG is a remotely piloted aircraft (RPA) wing, providing all operations, logistics, and support aspects of MQ-1 Predator, MQ-9 Reaper, and RQ-170 RPA training and employment.

 

Scheduling is a challenging, dynamic process. Even after the schedule is printed, numerous changes are normally required because of aircraft mechanical problems, medical issues, flight evaluation requirements, expiring event currencies, deployments and student training continuity. Weather conditions and other factors beyond the control of the scheduler also limit flying opportunities. The scheduler needs to be able to adapt quickly to changing circumstances in a medium- to high stress environment.

Responsibilities

  • Determine combat schedule requirements by comparing anticipated (Secret) sortie tasking’s (such as from combat Air Tasking Order (ATO), Skynet software, PEX software and/or RPA liaison officer communication) against the qualification, availability, and training requirements of assigned crew-members.
  • Build long- and short-range shift schedules to ensure full, 24/7/365 coverage of all combat pilot, sensor operator, mission intelligence coordinator, instructor, evaluator and supervisor positions. Coordination will be with senior squadron  leadership on a daily and weekly basis.
  • Keep track of when crewmembers will be on leave, temporary duty, have scheduled medical appointments or other scheduling commitments. The Scheduler shall de-conflict crewmember schedules and work with flight leadership to ensure adequate manning will be available to meet operational tasks assigned to the unit.
  • Track daily flight/ground/academic training requirements and accomplishments to facilitate accurate flight scheduling. To the maximum extent possible schedule aircrew based on experience to mitigate Operational Risk Management (ORM) and avoid unwanted scenarios such as scheduling an inexperienced pilot, sensor operator or mission intelligence coordinator together. Updates will be reported to squadron and wing leadership per unit guidance.
  • Facilitate last-minute schedule changes to ensure full coverage by working with the current mission commander/operations supervisor (or equivalent) and flight responsible for the shift that is not fully manned.
  • Coordinate with the Training shop (DOT), Squadron Aviation Resource Management (SARM) and Stan/Eval (CCV) to arrange a schedule to facilitate qualification, upgrade, and continuation training accomplishment in accordance with syllabus progression standards and per guidance in specific training folders (sim only, etc.) in accordance with Operations Officer (DO) priorities.
  • Track simulator availability and schedule crewmembers for mission qualification training, upgrade training, continuation training and/or emergency procedures simulators.
  • Shall appropriately disseminate scheduling data on secret and unclassified computer systems.
  • Enter data into Patriot Excalibur (PEX), Skynet, Access, and Excel- based database systems or future equivalent systems. Familiarization with PEX or similar  program is required. A detailed knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including the ability to manipulate, modify and create formulas, data and tables is also required.
  • Ensure schedule data is published and available during periods when the scheduling office is unoccupied.
  • Comply with scheduling chief and locally-developed guidance when building the schedule in additional to any DoD/AFI requirements.
  • Provide inputs to build annual flying hour program in accordance with (IAW) Air Force Instruction (AFI) 11-102 and accomplish weekly flying hour program updates.
  • Receive data from DOT, SARM, Stan/Eval, and Mobility about ground training requirements and schedule people for event accomplishment in coordination with applicable flight/shift leadership such that members remain current and qualified, are not  grounded, and are ready to deploy on time when tasked.
  • Create daily and weekly schedules, Long Range Flying Schedule, OG Flying Hour Program Report, Flying Effectiveness Reports, PMATS Schedule, calendars and master slides.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience working in/with the military and two (2) years of experience working with PEX or similar proprietary scheduling program or five (3) years of experience working with Microsoft Excel and Access databases (programming highly desired) and complete PEX Initial User Training Class or ISR Training Class.
  • Two (2) years of experience working as a RPA Squadron Flight Scheduler OR Three (3) years of experience working as a DoD Flying Squadron Flight Scheduler
  • No negative administrative, judicial, non-judicial, or criminal action/record in previous civilian or military employment for five (5) years. No history of being terminated from civilian employment, denied reenlistment, administratively discharged, or separated from the military under any condition other than honorable.
  • Active DoD Clearance Required
