AFFOR SME to serve as expert on techniques and procedures to apply AFFOR Staff Director expertise and experience interfacing with external organizations to AFFOR Staff. AFFOR SME will also apply senior officer expertise by directing, planning, training, and executing A-Staff advanced academic missions for a multitude of diverse senior audiences during courses and exercises.
Demonstrated superior knowledge and skill in one (preferably more) of the following; intelligence, operations, plans, communications, force protection, civil engineering, services, information management, medical, and safety. Working knowledge of entire AFFOR HQ staff organization, processes, roles, and responsibilities. Knowledge and application of Air and Space Expeditionary Task Force (AETF) requirements development, force readiness, deployment, base opening, sustainment, redeployment, and reconstitution. Knowledge and application of Joint Operation Planning and Execution System (JOPES), to include Time Phased Force Deployment Data (TPFDD) processes. Working knowledge of requisite C4I systems pertinent to primary functional area and familiarity with other key C4I systems for the AFFOR HQ Staff, such as Global Command and Control System (GCCS), JOPES, Deliberate Crisis Action Planning and Execution System (DCAPES), and Status of Resources and Training System (SORTS). Strong working knowledge and application of joint and USAF doctrine, to include USAF service and functional component roles and relationships. Demonstrated superior written and verbal communications skills. Certified USAF instructor, or equivalent. Able to obtain TS/SCI clearance. Specialized C2 training (i.e., C2WAC, SAAS, SAMS, SAWS, AFSSC, etc.) and cross-functional experience (i.e., service component and/or JTF/combatant command ops/plans staff principal) highly desired. Knowledge and application of exercise development, training
management, and Universal Joint Task List (UJTL) based training objectives
3 years on a Component-Numbered Air Force (C-NAF) or MAJCOM AFFOR Staff in a leadership capacity or 3 years as a qualified AOC Team or Division Chief.
SMEs must have practical experience executing the Joint Operations Planning Process for Air (JOPP-A) and participated in at least 2 deliberate or crisis action planning events.
SMEs will be capable of participating in all course-related functions spanning preparation, execution, execution support and maintenance of the course.
