AFFOR SME to serve as expert on techniques and procedures to apply AFFOR Staff Director expertise and experience interfacing with external organizations to AFFOR Staff. AFFOR SME will also apply senior officer expertise by directing, planning, training, and executing A-Staff advanced academic missions for a multitude of diverse senior audiences during courses and exercises.
AFFOR SME advises on joint warfare applications to include C2 in difficult to define, controversial, new or novel systems and functions of major agency, national, or international impact to senior Air Force leaders during courses and exercises.
AFFOR SME must be able to adjust analysis and instruction for differing AF warfighting senior training audiences after determining unique training objectives and requirements. Interact with specialized sub-sets of the training audience and develop training goals and programs and instruct independently given general over-arching training objectives.
AFFOR SME develops new procedures to address warfighting inadequacies, trends, or refined objectives observed during exercise. Provides world-class advanced training support for resident formal courses, just-in-time training events, and mobile training events.

3 years on a Component-Numbered Air Force (C-NAF) or MAJCOM AFFOR Staff in a leadership capacity or 3 years as a qualified AOC Team or Division Chief.
SMEs must have practical experience executing the Joint Operations Planning Process for Air (JOPP-A) and participated in at least 2 deliberate or crisis action planning events.
SMEs will be capable of participating in all course-related functions spanning preparation, execution, execution support and maintenance of the course.
